Women's Bible Study: Colossians

January 8th - March 19th, 2019

$20

Ladies of all ages from fourteen and up are invited to a 10-week study of the Apostle Paul's letter to the Colossians. Beginning Tuesday, September 18, 2018, we will meet every Tuesday at Advance Community Church from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

What to Expect

After you register, a study book on Colossians will be provided for you. While participants are asked to answer questions on each week's text, this study will enable you to engage in active learning, providing you with the opportunity to read and study the text on your own before coming to the study each Tuesday evening.

Every Tuesday evening will follow the same format. Upon arrival, women will meet for a small-group discussion time to discuss the week's text and study questions. Then, all women will gather together for a brief time of worship and prayer before a forty-minute teaching time. Light refreshments will be provided.

Why Study Colossians?

Paul commands the Colossians in 2:6-7 that "as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." While Paul does focus some of this letter on characteristics of a believer's walk, his primary aim in writing was the preeminence of Christ in both creation and redemption.

When God's people exalt and worship Christ as the preeminent firstborn from the dead in whom "all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell" (1:19) and "reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross" (1:20), then we will set our minds on things above and live accordingly. So as we come together in our study of Colossians, our aim is to know Christ and to love and serve Him better.
